Kevin Smith
Colorguard Director
From Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Kevin has been a part of the marching arts since 2008. His performing career first started in 2008 as a performer in the Big Spring Color Guard. Throughout his eight-year tenure in the program, he took on many leadership roles including student leader, instructor, and eventually taking over as Color Guard Director in 2014. Kevin continued to lead the program through 2016 where his ensembles completed locally in the Cavalcade of Bands Marching Band Circuit and the Keystone Indoor Drill Association (KIDA) Indoor Circuit. Outside of his hometown program, Kevin was also a performer in the Reading Buccaneers Color Guard for their 2013 and 2018 productions of "Higher Faster Stronger" and "Here To There".
In 2017, Kevin continued his teaching career by leading the Governor Thomas Johnson Color Guard as the Color Guard Caption Head/ Assistant Band Director. His knowledge and experiences have led the program to multiple honors and awards including 2017 USBands Maryland State Championships Best Color Guard, 2018 WGI Richmond Finalists, 2018 KIDA Silver Medalists, and 2019 Maryland Marching Band Association Best Color Guard. Additionally, Kevin has had the pleasure of teaching at several other programs including East Pennsboro HS, Camp Hill HS, Waynesboro HS, and Northern York HS.
Outside of rehearsals, Kevin can be found enjoying life with his significant other, their feline companion Paige, and their two cockatiels Nutmeg and Cinnamon.
