Marcos Vargas

Percussion Technician - Snare

Marcos is a Maryland native, currently residing in Frederick. Originally picking up guitar, he began his drumming endeavors starting in the elementary school band. Eventually he joined the Marching band and Indoor percussion ensembles in High School playing Snare and serving as section leader for 2 out of the 4 years.

After high school, Marcos was contracted to the Bushwackers in 2018 on snare but unfortunately couldn’t end up marching that summer. He then took a 4 year hiatus from marching but continued to hone in on his skills to eventually return for his age out season with OldLine Performing arts in 2022 where he served as section leader and was awarded the Member of the Year award.

Marcos is currently starting out his first season as an instructor for the Governor Thomas Johnson high school marching band and with OldLine for the 2023 season. Marcos is also a Strength and Conditioning Coach for Athletes and hopes to use his knowledge to improve members physical performances in both the marching band and indoor percussion ensembles.

Marcos is very eager to continue with OldLine transitioning from member to staff and having the opportunity to educate students and grow the marching arts in his local area.
